Directive (EU) 2024/1799 — the Right to Repair Directive — applies from 31 July 2026. For Annex II product families, manufacturers must repair on request within a reasonable time and price beyond the statutory guarantee, provide spare parts and repair information to independent repairers, maintain a free-access repair information portal, and accept a 12-month extension of the legal guarantee whenever a consumer chooses repair over replacement. The obligation covers the installed base, not only devices sold after the deadline.
